Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy, very little water at this time.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in great condition. Only one walk under and one climb over.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Great trails for a dog. Ample water. Summit was off-leash all day except when meeting the three other hikers we encountered. Use caution on Victor Head Ledge if dog is a puppy. Could be treacherous. Was hoping my bird dog would find grouse but not a one.
Bugs
Bugs: Few and far between. Amen! Isn't fall grand?
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Three one dollar bills were found on the road just inside the first gate. That's a first, getting paid for hiking!

Comments
Comments: This is a wonderful, short day hike for one who yearns for trails that aren't eroded. Soft under the feet. The ledge has great but limited views of Christine Lake and the north country. Decided to make a loop hike via Rowell Link, then back to the lake. Truly a wonderful day spent with my son, who will be deploying soon for Iraq. He enjoyed this little trek as well and wants to return with his wife. An easy day hike from where we live. Our conversation with a southbound Cohos Trail hiker could inspire us to further exploration of the upper part of CT. Started hiking at 9:00am, back to the vehicle at 2:45. Surprised however to by met by a flagman for Pike Paving who advised us that the road was closed for paving and we could not depart for an hour. (Keep in mind there was no indication of road work when we arrived in the morning.) 3 hours later we were allowed to leave, after hanging out on the shore of beautiful Christine Lake.
