Early start, saw no one until almost Isolation. Super windy and cold above treeline, was a struggle to stay upright at times, particularly descending Davis Path towards Isolation. Lots of mud on Davis Path, some of it deep. Davis Path between Isolation and Davis is obviously less used, which is a shame, since an extra 1.2 miles of not overly difficult hiking leads to Davis, which has fantastic views. Thought perhaps the wind would have died some by the time I headed back up Davis Path, but not really. Constant wind in my face made it extra work up the ridge. The sun was out, so at least it was warmer. Had planned to head back down Boott Spur, but decided I'd had enough above treeline wind and headed back down Glen Boulder (plus a faint hope my bear spray was to be found - it was not). Really like Glen Boulder, but it's a bit tough on the knees coming down. |
