Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: it's a wilderness area...it is what it is. but with that being said, there were a few trees to crawl under and straddle on Isolation tr about .75 or a mile below the ridge.
Dog-Related Notes

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I found a green canvas ball cap coming down Mt. Clinton trail that had been there a while. my hiking partner liked it, so he kept it.

Comments
Comments: a long day of redlining, but totally worth the it. Dry River tr from 302 to junction with Mt. Clinton is fine and easily followed. The next 2 miles are also easy enough to follow but footing gets a little rough and the trail is kind of tedious with twists/turns, ups downs. The first half mile of Isolation trail is the slowest going as you need to pay attention at the crossings and the slides, but as soon as the trail climbs away from the water...no problems and it's actually a lovely trail up to the ridge. While I was on Isolation tr, my partner kept going on Dry River...again no accessibility issues, but pay attention around the shelter to stay on trail. Dry River Cutoff...was the roughest most over grown trail of the day. The closer you get to the summit the more evidence of storm damage, but there aren't any show stopping obstacles. Some major mud pits though. Coming down Mt. Clinton was a delight...favorite trail of the day. 7 water crossings, but only the last one was concerning and I just opted to wade thru water no higher than my knees. Cleaned my muddy shoes. 18 miles for me. 19+ for him in just under 10 hours. fantastic day!
