Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Only car in" lot" when we arrived, 2 cars on the return. Follow GPS/map on All Trails or be sure you have the location you want on your google GPS. Ours was headed to a different trailhead when I entered Mount Cabot, and fortunately I figured it out early enough to correct our driving route. Otherwise we would have ended up at a very different trailhead. Gate to fish hatchery closes at 4pm or maybe 4:30 so need to be out by then. Says it opens at 7:30- we arrived at 8 AM. It felt pretty isolated - you go on a long side road to get there.

Comments
Comments: Absolutely BEAUTIFUL hike. Great foliage. (pre- nor' easter) Had the trail to ourselves the whole day except for one woman with her dog who reached the summit just a bit after us. Be sure to note that the cabin and scenic rock area is not the summit, you need to continue about .3 miles past to get to the true summit.
Had great views and lunch spot at the scenic rock.
Important to note that we did not see any trail markers along the trail, just a few signs at intersections. Used my all trails app to be sure we were on trail at a few points. The trail was wide enough to discern, but at some points I was unsure , so just checked that I was remaining on the trail.
One more bonus, the fish and wildlife people were stocking the fish pond opposite the trailhead when we returned and it was fun to talk to them and watch them stock the "fish raceway"!
