 | Water Crossing Notes: |
This route avoided the major on trail crossings, but two hikers I talked to noted that they were tough and that they opted to take their boots off. At the start of the bushwhack up from the south, I crossed Lincoln Brook with a Careful rock hop and the use of a log. At end of the bushwhack down from the east, I crossed the Franconia Brook, via a tricky submerged rock hop. |

Owl's Head, Owls Head Mountain - The Spire-Ears
I took the fisherman's path, losing it at a point and bushwhacking to Lincoln Brook Tr. where it is south of the book. I barely touched the trail and began to bushwhack up the south slope of Owl's Head. The accent started with a tricky crossing, followed by some wide open woods. The going was steep, but with very nice footing. As I neared the spire, woods got a little tighter and I had to work around some ledges. The highpoint is recognized. From the spire, I had a very nice bushwhack along the ridge to the path. I headed down by bushwhacking down the east slope. The upper sections were steep and thick with some very poor footing. The lower sections we open and nice. A submerged rock hop got me to Franconia Brook Trail, which I took out. |
