Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A late season excursion to clear waterbars. My adopted section goes from the cellar hole to the junction with Elwell, but only the wettest section between the cellar hole and the 93Z was serviced. 15 waterbars cleared of leaves, 1 ditch along the stepstones by the junction cleared. On the way down below the cellar hole, 11 waterbars cleared, just for fun(?). Getting cold and wet, I left the ones which were still flowing despite leaves. A hazel hoe and a miner's tool (small pick-mattock) worked well, but could have used a narrow garden rake. Two new blowdowns on the ground about 200yd west of the cellar hole. At about a foot diameter apiece, they'll go to an ax or a saw longer than most folding saws. They're rotted, and may be heavy.
