Comments
Comments: Well I only had a few different plans which then I went for the bigger of the two-Adams. I figure why not get it on a nice day and see if there is time for Madison (if I wanted out in headlamp I could have easily grabbed it). Valley way had a small amount of snow with tracks from the previous days and the man that went up right before me. I decided to redline a little and hit up Scar Trail and then did the loop and the undercast came through. It was a very nice trail but I would not recommend the more snow that comes as there were ledgy areas. I saw lots of bear (older)prints on this trail. Once onto the o so lovely Airline trail I could see the prints of others that have headed up. The snow started to get a little deeper once I hit treeline. The few guys ahead of me did a decent job trying to stay on the trail. It was quite annoying with spikes and soft powdery snow...since walking like a baby deer is always my favorite. Once I hit the junction to head up to the summit I see that they headed up that way instead of gulfside. I had snowshoes with me but knew that airline on the cone was going to be tough going anyways so I just followed the lovely footprint line up to the summit. This took forever as snow as from 4"-2' at times if you went deep into a rock crevasse. Once at the summit, decided to throw on my snowshoes as I would have a little better walking on fresh soft powder down. I made the ok line to thunderstorm junction and on gulfside back to the airline junction. I kept my snowshoes on to hope better the trail down to airline cutoff (this was a pain with all the small rocks trying to take my snowshoes). Here I swapped back to spikes and made it over to valley way as I just am not a big fan of airline, ever. Found some fresh bear prints on valley way and made it out to my car before headlamp time was needed. Shoulder season is rough walking, ready for the snow and the highways!
