Comments
Comments: Back in the saddle after almost 4 months off with a sprained foot. I was slow and my foot was sore for the last mile+ out, but it was great to be back in the mountains. My son and I crossed paths with a dozen or so others, including a solo hiker heading up very late and with a light pack. It is near full winter conditions up high now, so equip accordingly.

The trail was hard pack ice/snow end to end, thin at the bottom, thicker across the ridge. No need for snow shoes yet, but that could change after tomorrows storm. We wore trail spike the entire trip. The chimney by pass was much easier than it look, some ambitious person climbed the chimney based on the tracks. It seems thin to me to make an ice ax stick reliably.

High winds on the ridge made me thankful we chose a sheltered route today. All together it was a great day to get back into the mountains
