About 19 degrees at trailhead and summit thermometer was reading about zero with very strong winds. I wore most of my layers and a lotta goretex. Trail really not that easy to follow, particularly along the ridge as the footbed alternated with crusty snow and bare ground. Blazes were well-marked in some sections and easy to lose in other sections. Of course, the incoming storm will change all that. Ledgy sections had deeper crusty snow. I wore full winter boots. I tagged the high point above the top of the Ragged Mountain chairlift (running today). Carried traction but never felt necessary to put it on. Terrific day after snowboarding Ragged in the am. |
