| Water Crossing Notes: |
Major crossing at Jackman Brook, wading in 3"-4" of water. This was the largest challenge on the route we chose. Not recommended at any time after a heavy rain or in the Spring. We only found the place to cross because we ran into a hunter that was experienced in this area since he was a kid. See below for location of crossing. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Parts of Mount Cilley Road as viewed on the map are no longer visible. This 'road' seems to be long since abandoned but there are several snowmobile/Skidder roads that head in the right direction. |

| Comments: |
We had no idea that there was no bridge crossing the Jackman Brook on what is listed as Mount Cilley Road, but rather than abandon our plans before starting we scouted around and ran into hunter that we saw crossing through the water. About 1/4 mile downstream from where the 'road' would cross the brook the water flows across a rock ledge that is manageable to walk through with waterproof boots and gaiters. At one time there was a safety rope spanning the brook here but it is now coiled around the tree on the near side. Once across the brook the walk on the road and old logging paths was quite nice, The BW was through mostly open hard woods. We chose to cover the peaks in counter-clockwise fashion, Mount Cilley Northwest, Mount Cilley and then Grandview. If you've got more daylight and don't mind a little extra mileage a better entry point might be at the Elbow Pond Road which seems to have a bridge across the brook (not verified). Warning, this would not have been a safe crossing if the water was any deeper than the 3" level we experienced. |
