| Comments: |
booted the road for a bit, then went to spikes given the ice. lower gorge brook had thin packed powder over ice with minor sections of more substantial ice. above the gorge/snapper split snow cover improved quickly. around roughly 3700 feet snowshoes became the footwear of choice (though spikes could have sufficed) with pretty much full coverage all the way to the summit. felt like real winter up high. given the great snowshoeing on gorge brook i opted to descend that way as well. with new snow coming today, Monday, snowshoes are highly advised. |
