Comments
Comments: Car spotted with friends so we could go up to A and across to D. Great way to grab these for our fall season grid. Spikes or even bare boots are fine from Nineteen mile trailhead till about the junction with Carter Dome trail. Two in our party opted for spikes and two of us started in snowshoes ( I hate carrying them). After that first junction we were all in snowshoes as the powder was getting much deeper. We saw a few postholes that were about 6 inches deep after that junction. Once at the wildcat ridge trail junction , snowshoes were the only proper footwear, besides who doesn’t love televators while heading up? The snow wasn’t very consolidated yet along the whole trip up and across the ridge but with another day of snowshoe action, it should be. Even though this hike doesn’t count as winter, it sure felt like it. Cold powdery snow and a little butt sliding on the ridge.
