| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Ravine Road lodges were having a few private parties so the road had been plowed even though it normally is not during the winter. That eliminated the road walk. There was plenty of parking. It still had 3-4 inches of snow, but AWD worked fine. |

Snowshoes for the entire trek. Someone broke trail up to 1.50mi maybe part way through the last storm, but there was 3 inches of snow on top of that. I broke out that part and then the rest to the summit which was about 4-5in and 5-7in further up. It was a bit slow going with the breaking of trail, but it's looking good now! The first half mile of Gorge Brook Trail was getting some foot traffic with the overnight guests, so it was very packed by the time I came back down. No sunrise as the sun and summit were in the clouds. Whiteout conditions at the summit. It was a quick tag and go and scary to find my way back to the trees! Summit was hard packed ice/crusty snow. NYD Solo Winter Hike 5:45am! |
