My goodness, is this trail steep! Icy spots where butt sliders went down the trail. Plenty of snow on the side to dig into (and lots of trees to grab). One of us wore Hillsounds spikes and one Kahtoola spikes and we made it down ok. Some slipping and sliding, as that was hard to avoid. Snowshoes went for a ride, although I wish I had out them on for Greeley Ponds Trail to help smooth it down. We did not post hole. The bypass for the chimney bypass was my best bet for going up and down. Some blowdowns/bushwhacking made it a little challenging. My buddy took the bypass down and then wished they didn’t. Not sure how much snow fell or how the plummeting temps will affect the trail tonight. |
