| Comments: |
Except for the road walk in (for wich we used bare boots or spikes),the Major and I wore snowshoes for the entire hike, packing down 3-5" of fresh, dry snow. The trail already had a good snowshoe trench with no postholes, so it is in fine shape now. There were some deepish snowdrifts at the edge of the Spruce, before breaking out into the open near the top, which only the two of us could not pack down well, but it is a short distance. Beautiful blue sky day, with all the spruce and rocks turned into snow hoodoos near the top, but a bit windy up high in the open, for which we layered up and donned our face masks and goggles, and were comfortable in the 5-10F wind. |
