The start of this route is definitely interesting. ;) The access road to the summit was well-packed by snowshoers and skiers, but also churned up by booters. I wore snowshoes round-trip. A bit of a grind up the road as it's moderately steep the whole way. Excellent views from the top, including the Twins/Bonds, Franconia Notch, Garfield Ridge ... just super. On the way down, I broke out a new track in the powder off to the side.
If this hike feels like you're walking through someone's yard when you get to the top, it's because you are. The owner of the house at the summit welcomes hikers though, and this is a peak worth visiting. |
