Comments
Comments: Another beautiful above-treeline day, the other being Jefferson last week. Bo and I used light/medium traction all day--me with HH Pro Crampons the entire hike, and Bo with microspikes to Adads, then with HH Pro Crampons for the remainder. The snowshoes got a free ride to the hut, where we left them while above treeline. Being the first to head to Adams from the hut we had to stomp a path through the drifted snow that occurred here and there, and no track was visible to Adams so we operated on cairn and GPS guidance. By the time we were returning to the hut about five others were heading to Adams, all having come up Valley Way, and all with spikes. I saw no track or footsteps coming up on Airline at Gulfside, although Airline did appear broken down at it's start. The trail to Madison was well stonped out, with a number of people coming up Airline going only to Madison--again all in with spikes or no traction.
