 | Comments: |
mt. morgan trail well packed out mostly by boots. morse and percival had seen a couple pairs of boots since the last storm. good snow coverage up to percival including on the ledges. quite crusty around the summit. no doubt there is ice underneath in spots, but not an issue ascending today.
unbroken trail to squam with crust over powder. old snowshoe trough still visible much of the way. crust was the heaviest in open ledgy areas, but always breakable. once back at percival the boot tracks continued to morgan. i made the short side bushwhack to the highpoint of the range along the way. packed trail to the viewpoint on morgan, but not on the short trail to the summit. continued pack trail down to where the morgan trail splits to descend from the ridge then unbroken to webster. less crusty than the trail to squam. i made the short, but steep bushwhack to the highpoint of webster in mostly open woods. least crusty and most unconsolidated snow of the day on that short bit. i opted to double back to the mt. morgan trail and made the quick descent on packed out trail. |
