Spectacular day and very busy with Waumbek peak seekers. (why am I the only one posting conditions?)
All but one party that we saw was hiking in spikes. Three of our four person party used spikes; after meeting a departing couple wearing snowshoes and suggesting them, I opted for snowshoes and kept them on all day. In the softening afternoon snow and even at the 1.3 mile fork to the left on ascent, they were helpful though not required. Warm temps mean it's going to be even sloppier soon, fyi.
Stunningly beautiful views to the Presi's with lots of grey jays at the top, probably because every other party except ours was feeding them. Great day on the post-leg break rehab and feeding the soul for the week ahead. |
