Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks None, NH
Trails
Trails: Pemi East Side Trail, Lincoln Woods Trail, Franconia Falls Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Tuesday, March 3, 2020
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot at Lincoln Woods is icing out. Plenty of bare patches and I expect it'll be much better come the weekend.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Snow bridges are still covering much of the East Branch of the Pemi, however, they're not recommended in the slightest.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were packed solid. There was a slight amount of mashed potatoes -- perhaps an inch overall. It was smooth sailing almost the entire time. Had it been paved with fresh tarmac, the going wouldn't have been a single bit easier.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A lovely alsatian out with dad, having yet another best day of his life.
Bugs
Bugs: Oddly, yes, but only a very few flying insects.

Comments
Comments: I'd been convalescing after breaking my ankle on Mt Adams in December. Finally, enough was enough, and my PT guy was on board with a light hike. Hi ho, hi ho, to Lincoln Woods I go! A stellar day, superlative views, and fine trails to walk on. Don't ask how I got from one side of the river to the other without getting my feet wet. Magic happened. Then again, Lincoln Woods is a magical place, right?

Trip report and photos are on my blog. Share and enjoy!
