Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, March 5, 2020
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I was the first one in the plowed Mt. Morgan Trail lot along NH 113 in Holderness. The Mt. Percival Trail parking area is not being plowed this year due to lack of funding.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Several, but all easily crossed.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few blowdowns along this loop, but I don't recall where now. The summit of Mt. Percival still needs better signage to indicate the three routes which leave from the top.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Once again, please leash your dogs if they act aggressively toward other people.
Bugs
Bugs: Nope.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I found a moose along the ridge, poopin' right in the trail. :) It turned around and gave a look as if to say, "can you give me a minute here?" before wandering off into the woods.

Comments
Comments: Shoulder season has begun in this area with snow, ice, mud, bare ground and standing water. None of these trails were immaculate groomed sidewalks today, but were solid and that was good enough for spikes round-trip. Around midday things started to soften a bit but remained solid enough. Snow pack is minimal with lots of rocks poking through.

I stuck to the main hiking route but did notice the caves and ladders alternate routes had been traveled. The ladders on Morgan were free of ice. Descending down the cliffs off Percival took a little care due to some ice but it was melting fast.

Spectacular views as always on this sunny day, aside from the true summit of Morgan where the trees continue to grow up.
