| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Several options. I parked by the picnic area next to the Irving station. Several folks parked at the "winter parking", which had been plowed and did not seem too wet or boggy. Also several folks parked at the normal summer parking area - there is little snow there, though it is very icy, as is the short access road. Alas, one person had parked along the road side just before the access road, a little above a "No Roadside Parking" sign. |

A few very minor blowdowns and leaners. A former crawl-under on the ridge has now become a walk-around-and-over. Blazing okay. Signage okay. |

Thanks in part to yesterday's slight thaw and the overnight hard freeze, the trail was firm heading up to Starr King. I microspiked it, as did many others, without any divoting. I opted for snowshoes from Starr King to Waumbek, as the trail was slightly drifted in places and seemed softer. There were some moose track postholes on the ridge. Nice views from Starr King and from the blowdown patch just past the summit of Waumbek. |
