Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: A huge parking lot mostly empty today. There is a great modular outhouse at this trailhead.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing of the Chocorua river on the Weetamoo trail is difficult at the normal crossing but looked easier higher up. I would recommend walking up stream a ways before crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns on Weetamoo but not too bad. Hammond is a disaster--about the worst I've ever seen. The Piper trail is in magnificent condition.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The route up had plenty of water or dog hydration. The Piper trail was much dryer. There are ledges on this route. Experienced dogs will have no problems.
Bugs
Bugs: No bugs out today

Comments
Comments: The Piper trail is in superb condition. The Hammond trail needs an enormous amount of work. Chris, the Piper trail maintainer, told me work would begin on the Hammond trail tomorrow. At present, passage through the Hammond trail is very difficult.
