Comments
Comments: The trail was well packed down and in great condition! There is quite a bit of ice under the snow (making it nice and crunchy in spots) but nothing my microspikes couldn't handle. There are a couple of icy spots over bare rock, but you can clearly see them and where people have diverted around. A tree was blown down and in the middle of the trail going from Starr King to Waumbek, but again, someone made nice tracks around and its an easy diversion. Also to note, the trail going over to Waumbek was a lot softer and there were a few spots where people had post-holded.Particularly, on the side of the trail. Snowshoes were not necessary however, with warm temps the next few days, you might want to consider at least keeping them on your pack (just in case). The cairn at Waumbek is totally buried so be sure to look for the trail sign on the tree (to know you are there). The blowdown a few yards away on the Kilkenny Ridge Trail was nice and packed down in spots and the views were just incredible. One more thing to note, we
