Comments
Comments: Dead Water Ridge No: From boat ramp, walked NW across lake, using the snomo corridor to leave lake and get onto Roy Road (private, no vehicles allowed; foot traffic okay). Walked north along Roy Road, and at hairpin turn, switched to snow shoes and walked north on a secondary snomo trail. This trail intersects with snomo trail #5. We turned left/west and followed this snomo trail (mostly melted/icy) for about a 1/2 mile to a HOL due south of peak. Switched back to shoes again and bw'd through whippets and regrowth and easy third mile to the summit. Returned the same way back to Roy Road.

Diamond Ridge: We followed Roy Road south along the east side of the lake. But it wasn't plowed through, so we dropped to the lake and on microspikes, walked south on the frozen surface until we were due west of the peak. Switched back to shoes and bw'd through easy woods and some whippets/regrowth to the summit. On the descent, we made a beeline for the boat ramp area, which we could see through the bare woods. Crossed the frozen lake one last time.

Conditions were ideal!! Microspikes on the frozen lake and snomo trails. Snowshoes on the consolidated snow. Fast hiking!

Great day (and keeping our social distance ;-) with Fran M. & JEM3
