|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||Mt. Webster, Mt. Jackson, NH|
||Webster-Jackson Trail, Webster Cliff Trail|
|Date of Hike:
||Sunday, March 22, 2020|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Adequate room on 302 pulloffs, but fairly full in mid-am. |
||Ice - Blue, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Postholes |
||Light Traction, Traction, Snowshoes |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||Small streams still bridged. River crossing on Webster branch bridged by big, solid snow/ice bridge today |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||Good. Higher up on loop there are many branches at face and chest height due to a few feet of snow under foot, but nothing impassable. |
||Willow had her usual fantastic time--always checking that we were there and ok. |
|Lost and Found:
||Terrific blue sky day, not a cloud. nice cool temps, only slight NW wind. All trails covered with excellent crust but a few spots required care due to solid ice bulges (we did have a slip that led to 20 yard fast slide, but no injury). Segment of Webster Cliff between peaks does have irregular postholes, but but still manageable surface. All in our party did well with microspikes, but crampons would do well, too. Trickiest location is up/down to Jackson summit by way of Jackson limb.|
Crystal clear views all around.
