A great day on "The Blazing Comet." We got a late start to avoid the trees peeing on us and dumping snow bombs on us from the new snow this morning. We where the only ones that had snowshoes and everyone we passed said they wished they had them. Trails to the ski view point are a mix of slush/mash potato . After the viewpoint to the Sosman junction, its about 3-4" of mash potato with bullet ice underneath - was glad I had all the extra bite. The ridge from Sosman to the L/R junction was fine, left is broke out for now! We left the trails much better than we found them with the snowshoes. I'd still take them because i'm lazy and love my televators but its also a comfort thing. Got an incredible buttslide run in on the way out. The ski trail adjacent to the hiking trail is about 6" of fresh snow with blue ice underneath if you're thinking of earning your turn! |
