| Comments: |
I pieced together enough trails in the western part of the city to create a quasi-loop route of about 6.5 mi. with some decent elevation gain. All trails were mostly dry. The worst mud was along the active farm road inside the Rossview Farm property, which was deep and rutted from heavy equipment. The cascades are currently flowing nicely in this stretch along the brook which the road follows.
On the return trip I left WEFT at the old Concord Winter Recreation Area and took an unmarked trail down to the old dam at Russell Pond. I crossed the dam with care, then took the unofficial Russell Pond Trail up to Swope Park's Blue Loop. I considered heading over Jerry Hill, but skipped it.
There were several people out today and we all kept a respectable distance. One couple looked like they were packed for the Whites, and I wondered if they might have been doing the WEFT end-to-end. Cool temps and no sun today, but a nice walk in the woods. |
