Comments
Comments: The western section of the Table Rock Trail was broke out, but the Cohos Trail going south was not. I put snowshoes on here and promptly lost the trail. Even though I knew the trail was just to the west of me, I ended up bushwhacking for a mile on top of the ridge in open woods. There was a nice crust on the unbroken snow and I was sinking in only a few inches. I found the trail again just before the climb to Mt Gloriette. From then on it was easy to follow the trail corridor. The ATV trail that links up to the Cohos Trail was broke out from snowmobilers, and the final access road to the top (where snowmobiles aren't allowed) was not broke out, but I still stayed on top of the snow pack with snowshoes. The high point seems to be on ledges near the second turbine from the south. On the return trip I took the ski trails down and a short road walk for a quick descent. Saw no one all day, except a forest chicken! (aka grouse), great solo day in the mountains.
