Hiked in the early a.m. just as it was starting to snow. Snow shoes from trailhead to summit and back. Good solid base with maybe 2" or less of crusty new snow from earlier in the week. Final ascent to summit on the ledges was technically easy using proper traction. Looked like only one other person (without snow shoes) had been on the trail recently, I assume the day before. Snow shoes will likely be the most appropriate form of traction after Thursday's and Friday's snow, particularly with the thaw/freeze conditions in the forecast. |
