Comments
Comments: We got an early start (7:30) in order to take advantage of the stiffer snow conditions which lasted for about 2 hours. Needed snowshoes right from the get-go to rebreak what remained of a previously tracked out trail.Kept them on the entire way, save for the last 0.1 mile where the trail just got too wet and mostly bare. Made it easier to walk over the puncheon and exposed rocks. Snow was pretty slushy on the descent from Mt. Randolph and laid heavy on top of our snowshoes by the time we finished. It was a "commit to the snowshoes" kind of day. Not really deep snow but soft and deep enough to posthole without them. Lost the trail a few times just before the vista on Crescent Ridge Trail. There's a trail blazed in blue which takes you God only knows where so don't follow that. Stay with the orange blazes. Trail was really well marked except for at this point but should be easy to follow now if you pick the right set of footprints. Sorry! (Turn left up an incline about 20 yds. BEFORE the tree with an antler tied to it.) Views on the Presi's where amazing today! No spread of C-19 today as we were all alone.
