Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Three - first one right after suspension bridge is avoidable, ice bridge on path broke today. Second crossing has 2 old rotten planks that were barely above water but crossable. Third one is the major stream crossing, tricky but doable. Lots of log bridges up and down stream or if you cross at the trail and have a huge stride length you can rock hop with maybe getting one foot wet!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few annoying skinny leaners and tree top branches that whip in your eyeballs because snow is so high still from junction to junction. I did a little trail maintenance. Better now but still needs work.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Only my two. Could have used snowshoes for them too.
Bugs
Bugs: lots of snow fleas
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: nothing

Comments
Comments: Mt. Crawford onto Stairs/Resolution Jct.

Spikes are needed from the bottom up to the first vista. It's still a mixture of mostly ice and some dirt and slog down low. When you reach that first vista, the snow deepens after the rock slabs and you should put snowshoes on and then keep them on for the duration. Especially if you plan to continue on the Davis Path to Stairs or Resolution. Too many people choosing to pursue those other summits without them and that 1.5 miles of trail is now a huge mess with 3-5 foot postholes all the way over to Stairs. The snow is still quite deep up there. The Stairs Col Trail (towards Resolution) is not broke out. The Davis Path going towards Stairs should be a little better now after having snowshoed over and back but beware of the holes that I couldn't level and WEAR YOUR SNOWSHOES OR DON'T GO!
