|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
All trails in good shape. there is one large tree down across North Mtn trail, that is easily bypassed, but it would be nice if it was chainsawed up to prevent further widening and erosion of the trail. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
fine for dogs. very little water though. |
|
| Bugs: |
temp was 32 when i started, so no bugs, but by late morning when it had warmed up considerably there were some bugs. in two weeks (or less) the bugs will be horrible. |

| Comments: |
early morning leisurely stroll over North Mtn. this is the furtherest hike from home i've done in weeks. only 15 miles from home, but i felt like i was getting away with something. i just needed to see some trails different from my town's forest. cold but sunny start with lots of happy birds singing and winging their way through the trees. a half dozen turkey vultures hanging out over the cliffs above 'devil's den'. I chose to walk back to the car on Round Pond Rd, vs. doubling back or taking North Mtn by pass. Didn't see anyone until coming up to the junction with Reservation Rd. The roads are in good shape. no mud or flooding on Round Pond Rd. While there wasn't any cutting today, much evidence of selective foresting going on at the PSP. Hadn't been over there in awhile so I was surprised by the changes in the landscape. |
