Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing to worry about.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails are in good shape, and drier than expected. The good blazes on the Holt Trail were very important for staying on track.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Poochies, please don't go on the upper Holt Trail- it is too dangerously steep. You'll like the other trails on the mountain. It is rocky and windy up top.
Bugs: There were a few different kinds out, but the breeze kept them moving.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found:
Comments: The upper Holt Trail lives up to its reputation of being steep to the point of being potentially dangerous. Most of it was easier than I expected but I found a couple of spots that were more difficult... At least there was no ice or snow left in the trailbed, but there was some water on the ledges in places. There was ice on the Hurricane Gap Trail, and wooded parts of the Clark Trail, but nothing that would require traction gear. Plenty of moose droppings on the lower Clark Trail.
