Comments
Comments: Epic day for this hike-Out and back on Old Bridle Path. There is a mix of bare ground degrading monorail/solid monorail, bare rocks and ice at upper elevations. Micros were all that was needed until 4600 ft and changed into crampons and they stayed on until summit of Lincoln and same on return. The ridge was a mix of ice, drifts, and bare rock. I haven't seen the approach to Mt Lafayette so icy all winter, it seemed bulletproof this morning but did soften on the return.
Highly recommend Crampons. I passed nineteen hikers and easily maintained social distance. Snowshoes along for the ride today.
