Bluebird day for this hike! Spring hiking with micros from the start with the trail being a mix of bare ground, rocks, and spotty ice and monorail. I switched to crampons on the last part of the ascent to Mt Lafayette for approximately 800 feet, then switched back to micros for the duration of the hike. From Mt Lafayette to Little Haystack there is a mix of postholed drifts, bare rocks and spotty ice patches. It was nice meeting a few familiar hikers as well as others and chatting at a respectful distance. Snowshoes went for a ride today-always glad they are on my back.
