Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Off 115, easy to get up into, and maybe fifteen cars worth of room. This was my second time here recently, and there's never been more than one other car here.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction, Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Pretty good condition, clearly well maintained, which is probably why it drains real well.. you see the cleared waterbars and the rate the leaves are drying out and it just adds up.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: No ticks here. I bushwhacked a bit too, to find a nice private spot for lunch with a good view, still too cold for them.

Comments
Comments: Left my spikes in the car. I had been up part of the way a couple days ago and was surprised how well drained the trail was. There was only just a little mud at the bottom, and otherwise a pretty dry trail with good footing. Kind of a steady slog, at a moderate angle. Good footing along the sidehill too. I got up to about 3000 feet and the trail had turned away from the river. There was a half to an inch of fresh snow, and the trail steepened. There were some ice flows under the snow, and my walmart boots weren't cutting it. I probably could have bushwhacked up the side, by utilizing the unfrozen portion of the brush and soil, but I would have been just ripping shit up, so I turned back and resigned myself to bring the bigger pack and the winter gear next time.
Met one other hiker on the way back down. Spoke briefly, comfortably at a distance, like two jesse james in red bandanas, the young jesse and the old jesse, I guess.
