Excellent hike up to Carter Dome. Snowshoes went on in the first 1/2 mile with approximately 6 inches of fresh powder this quickly turned to 8-10 inches or more after Carter Dome Trail. Trail was unbroken after first water crossing on CDT.There was heavy angled drifting that ranged between 2-3 1/2 ft deep in many places especially above Zeta Pass. It was nice chatting with the hiker at Zeta Pass on the descent. I met 11 hikers today. Snowshoes came off back down at 19MBT intersection as snowpack was melting.Great day to be out. |
