 | Comments: |
A bit of everything on the trails today - plenty of mud, wet rock, light snow above 2000 feet and ice-glazed rocks on the way up. There is even a short patch of monorail left on the North Cube Spur trail. We all barebooted the whole way, could maybe have used spikes for a couple of sections. The quartzite ledges up top are deadly slippery if your boot soles are at all wet, and not so great even if dry - beware! The overnight freeze and the strong NW winds were helpful - no black flies in evidence. Saw one trout lily in the glades below the summit, just about to bloom. Super views, just a couple of patches of snow left on the Dartmouth Skiway. |
