| Comments: |
Bare-booted to elevation 2900 feet, then snowshoes to Waumbek from there and back. Some exposed rock on summit of Starr King. Trail is surprisingly dry with only a few muddy sections before you get to the snow. Transition to monorail and snow is very quick. Looked like maybe 1 or 2 people had been on the trail since the last snow fall, at least 1 person using snowshoes, so the trail wasn't fully packed. Still plenty of snow (read deep snow) at elevation.
Why the trailhead parking is closed at this particular trailhead is a real headscratcher. Just sayin. |
