Comments
Comments: The monorail on the bottom of Asquam Ridge was rotting out badly (and the moose have been postholing the hell out of it); mix of snow and crust over running water. Microspikes pretty much the whole way around; brought snowshoes, but the monorail above 4,000' where the snow remains 2-3' deep is still solid enough to prevent postholing. Summit is free of snow, but very wet, lots of standing water. Monorail on the ridge across to S Peak holding up, as is Carriage. Snapper a bit dodgy w/ abundant ice. Only patches of snow/ice from the Snapper/Gorge Brook jct down to the bridge. It is still very much winter up there -- yet, people were hiking up in short and t-shirts, giving our snowshoes questioning glances.
