All things considered, conditions were good this morning. Quick transition from bare trail to monorail started at about 3000 ft. elevation. Conditions were fast. Microspikes to junction with Webster Cliff, bare-booted to summit of Pierce, microspikes back on at Crawford Path and halfway to Eisenhower, bare-booted to summit of Eisenhower. Mircospikes back on halfway to Pierce on the return until below the Mitzpah Cutoff.
No need for snowshoes this morning, but I did bring them just in case. Monorail was surprisingly solid. I would note that I was out early in the a.m. and the trail conditions will likely change substantially throughout the day.
Only a few people out in the morning. Everyone pleasant and social distancing. Nice to meet and trade a couple of stories with Jed today. |
