Comments
Comments: Hiked up Cummins Pond Road continuing past the gate to a cleared area. Spotted an opening in the woods to our right so headed in that direction and started bushwhacking straight towards the summit. Pretty nice woods although a fair amount of new tree growth. Jumped onto an old woods road about halfway there which brought us to a height of land. As it turned away, we headed into the woods towards the summit, going over several bumps until we saw the jar up ahead of us; visible from a fair distance due to the orange tape and open woods. Don't do what we did next! Decided to drop down to the 4WD road shown on the map as running below the peak on its south side. Steep descent to messy woods and a boot sucking boggy area. Did find traces of the road but it continued to be pretty overgrown and boggy so cut cross country through the woods and picked it up again much further along after coming to another woods road that ran a couple hundred yards down to meet the 4WD road. From here it wasn't too bad and eventually brought us back to the clearing where we had cut into the woods. Cant believe that road is on the map as we have been on a lot nicer ones that aren't: live and learn!
