|
| Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Nice Bridges along the way and others all easily rock hop-able |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail mostly well blazed except under powerline and at the end at 114 we followed a tractor path and realized this wasn't the trail. We went back up the field to the blaze on a post and this time stayed north in the tick field and then found on the other side of the field a blaze and a short woods trail down to 114. I have no idea how anyone starting here would ever find their way across this field??? |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
why not, but check for ticks |
|
| Bugs: |
just windy enough that the bugs were not an issue today, thankfully |

Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway, Section 5, Great Brook Trail to Route 114 Springfield
Now that we own the guide book we have learned that counterclockwise is backwards, ha ha. We began hiking up the Great Brook Trail and it was lovely and the cascades must be more delightful after a good rainstorm. Nice bridges.
This section was 8.5 miles, the overlooks were well worth visiting and we visited the large water tank. Nice path through the forest, only met two people today. Luckily it was breezy and kept the bugs at bay. Relaxing nice day.
The field crossing right at Route 114 is crazy full of wood ticks.
Fun day. Glad you joined up Sharon |
