Lots of folks have mentioned bumping into a trail when they bushwhacked up, and following this trail down. I found a nice trip report on Jeremy Clark's hiking site (thank you, Jeremy) which helped me locate the trail from the start. As I approached the parking area, I slowed my car down and saw a woods road, obscured by a blowdown(s). I followed this old road for about a quarter mile or so, to a fork. The woods road went straight, but was not well traveled. I turned right at this fork onto a lightly used trail that went up towards the peak. There was an obvious herdpath/treadway as well as small piles of rocks to mark the way. Near the top contours there were red blazes on the trees. The trail got a tiny messy on the top due to no maintenance and a few blowdowns. Near the top there are several small mineral site pits, perhaps from collectors. No jar. Followed trail/road out the same way. |
