Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, June 21, 2020
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: At the lot on New Canada Rd. in Wilmot.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None of any issue.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail sign across from the parking area is missing. This route is marked with more of the old silver metal blazes than the standard SRKG white blazes. Two notable blowdowns: one is just after you turn off the logging road section, it's at an awkward height that makes it tough to go over or under; the other is a large walk under as you climb out of the ravine, just past the junction with Ash Trail (private).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure, but check for ticks after the logging road section.
Bugs
Bugs: They weren't terrible, but weren't great either. The logging road stretch is very brushy and grassy. I've found one tick so far.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: Oof. I hadn't been on this ridge in a while, and forgot how rugged it is. But fun (once you're off the logging roads)!! LOTS of rough ups and downs make for a good workout. I had considered continuing past the main ski area to the high point of the ridge, but it was way too humid to add on another 3 mi. round-trip.

Fairly quiet today, I only encountered six other people. Conditions are dry, dry, dry, except for one mud pit. I could see rain falling in the direction of Cardigan, but it never reached Ragged.
