| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I was the second car in the lot in the morning, and the only car when I got back to Randolph East a little past 3. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Some wet/slippery rocks at the Bumpus Brook crossing at Hitchcock Falls require care, but ultimately it was not a huge problem. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails were in great shape for the most part. Parts of the Howker Ridge Trail up high and Randolph Path down low are starting to get a bit grown in. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
| Bugs: |
Heat, humidity, and not much of a wind on that side of Madison made for a very buggy day, even at higher elevations. Ended the day with quite a collection of mosquito bites. |

| Comments: |
A beautiful day, but high temps and minimal wind made ascending Howker Ridge very sweaty and buggy work. I hoped to bag Adams as well, but was feeling drained from the heat. The appearance of rolling thunder in the distance as I descended to the Madison Spring Hut gave me the pretext to officially bail on Adams with dignity.
I only saw eight people all day. |
