I parked at the junction of Croydon Turnpike and Goodwin Rd. in Plainfield. |

|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
None. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The informal orange-blazed trail is well-marked up to the summit from the turnpike. Beyond the summit, it is overgrown in spots and barely visible down lower with no footbed. Markings appeared to stop at the drainage just east of the snowmobile trail. |

| Bugs: |
Yeah, lots. Deer flies are becoming a pain. |

From where I parked, I continued up the turnpike for 0.4 mi. and turned right onto the trail, which is marked by orange paw print blazes and flagging. It's a fairly steep ascent, though short. This was going to be an out and back, but after seeing the bootleg trail continuing from the summit, I followed it down. It was apparent at first, but became very obscure down lower, to the point of being just a marked route through the woods with no footbed. I lost the trail about a quarter mile before hitting the snowmobile trail which runs west of the peak, so I bushwhacked over to it easily from there, and followed that back to the turnpike.
An interesting summit with some interesting artifacts. The summit sign reads "Snow Mt.", so I guess this was part of the Snow Mountain peaks to the north at one point? No idea, as this peak isn't labeled on maps. The recognized high point is just off trail a bit. |
