Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: This is the one trail from this TH that doesn't require a Downes Brook crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Thankfully, I found that some rugged individual had already taken out that 'messy'/'complicated' blowdown on the West side. A LOT of work there. Whoever you are, you effing rock!!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I would still bring extra water, as there are sections that are dry and you'll want to stop at viewpoints after hiking these parts.
Bugs
Bugs: Not bad, occasional deer fly, occasional mosquito. No ticks.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found about 50 ripe blueberries. It. Begins. AGAAAAAAIIIIIIINNNNNN!!!

Comments
Comments: Went up the West side first, and was tickled to get out of any trail work today. It was muggy for hiking, but quite pleasant for sitting at the many awesome viewpoints.
Enjoyed talking with Bob on the summit. Such a pleasure to actually get away with a little free expression in America, without having our packs set ablaze! And thanks for leaving that cigar on my car! I had been craving a smoke for months now, and Macanudo is my favorite.
The trail was easy to follow, very well maintained, with mostly good footing. A couple very small sections of running water on the trail, including a spring between the summit and the East ledges. The spring gurgled and slowly trickled water into my Sawyer filter bag, but it was worth the wait, enabling more quality time on the East ledges, without getting dehydrated.
I had hiked Hedgehog a couple times, but couldn't remember the dates for peakbagging the 52WAV. Just doing it again was definitely the right solution to that little dilemma, well worth a revisit, and I can't wait to see it in winter.
