Absolutley the most relaxing hike I have ever done! Trail is so amazing! Well maintained, easy on the feet & legs. I cant say enough about how much I enjoyed this hike! Short only 5 miles..tops. Gentle grades, switchbacks, & the views!!!!! The trail was very wet today due to heavy overnight fog, rocks were slippery espicially coming down. Some wet/mud about 2/10 below South Peak. Down low great stands of pine, almost like they were planted...rows & rows. Higher up the ferns were breath taking in the early morning mist. A beautiful site. Did find a Valley Quest cache just past the 1st ledges. FYI inside very wet, mold mildew. It needs some TLC. South Peak views were hazy into Vermont. Smarts MT Firetower was visable. Quick trip to North....Views were incredible! Moosilauke, Kinsmans, Tripyramids, Osceloa etc. I spent almost 2-1/2 hours on both peaks alone! Hot but a nice breeze...should have brought more beer! This is a must do hike! I will be back to snow shoe these 2. Baker Pond was a great spot to cool off & look back up were I was just siiting. |
